Training & Development at the heart of EURO BUS EXPO 2008
May 25th, 2008
Taking place less than two months after the PCV/LGV Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) comes into force (for PCV) across all European Union member states, the highly topical and important issue of training in the bus and coach sector will be fully recognised at Euro Bus Expo 2008 thanks to a special initiative announced by the show organisers.
Sponsored by GoSkills, a dedicated Training & Development Zone has been established right at the heart of the show to allow visitors direct access to a host of training suppliers positioned in a central area, with further specialist advice and information also available from staff at GoSkills.
“Drivers’ CPC is a hot topic for every operator in the industry and the highly apposite timing of the show means that EBE08 will be an ideal chance for them to discuss their specific requirements with a range of potential training providers,” said Show Director Mark Griffin. “It will complement the series of excellent CPC information briefings hosted by GoSkills advising Bus and Coach operators on the implications of the CPC and to address industry concerns ahead of implementation.”
He added. “For suppliers, the Training & Development Zone provides a highly cost-effective way of reaching a core target audience, with 14 self contained exhibition spaces clustered around a shared hospitality area. With the endorsement and support of GoSkills, it is no surprise that four of the available pods were immediately snapped up by GAP Training, Novadata Tab, Phoenix Training and Transport Training Skills.”
“With the likes of DSA and VOSA exhibiting in their own right and central positioning of the Training & Development Zone, this year’s show will have the largest training representation for many a year,” said Mark Griffin.
Peter Huntington, Chief Executive of Passenger Transport Sector Skills Council GoSkills which, amongst other roles, runs the Joint Approval Unit for Periodic Training for the CPC (in partnership with Skills for Logistics) commented; “The bus and coach industry today offers a fantastic number of career paths and training at every level is an integral part of overall skills development. We are therefore delighted to be associated with this important new initiative at the show, which will be of great relevance to many visitors and training providers alike, not least because of the imminent implementation of Drivers’ CPC.”
Euro Bus Expo 2008 takes place at the NEC Birmingham on the 4th-6th November, with the Training & Development Zone now adding to dedicated Technology and Environment Zones, which are also making their show debuts.
