Euro Bus Expo 2016 – Europe’s biggest bus and coach event of the year – opened at the NEC Birmingham today.  Thousands of visitors were in attendance to discover what’s new and next in the vibrant passenger transport sector.

The biennial event, which runs until 3 November, features nearly 300 exhibitors representing every link of the supply chain – from ‘must have’ vehicles, accessories and equipment to cutting-edge technology, training and services.

Many of the innovations on show today will define passenger transport design, developments, and solutions for years to come.

Today’s visitors were the first to see a host of new launches – including Volvo’s new B5LHC Double Deck Electric Hybrid, Alexander Dennis’ Enviro400CBG, Optare’s Metrodecker EV prototype, the Yutong E12 (in partnership with Arriva and 21st Century), and EVM Direct’s Super Low Floor Metro LF.

Mercedes-Benz, MAN Bus & Coach UK, Irizar UK, Wrights Group, Scania (Great Britain), Rescroft, VDL Bus & Coach, Minis to Midis, Van Hool, Unvi Bus and Coach, Beulas, Temsa Global, B.A.S.E, Indcar, Sitcar, BYD Europe, Otokar Europe, Connaught PSV, Iveco Bus, Advanced KFS Special Vehicles, Swansea Coachworks, and Meridian Coachworks are also displaying their latest vehicles at the show this week.

“Whether it’s vehicles, equipment, technology, services or advice you’re looking for, Euro Bus Expo brings them all together under one roof – you can’t afford to miss it!” says John Birtwistle, CPT president and head of policy at FirstGroup’s UK Bus Division.

“Visiting Euro Bus Expo ‎is essential to keep up-to-date with the latest innovations and solutions to help us deliver the very best for customers, employees and shareholders,” says Martijn Gilbert, CEO of Reading Buses.

The Go-Ahead Group, trentbarton, Reading Buses, Transport for London, and National Express are just some of the leading operators still to appear in the Master Class Theatre (sponsored by SmartDrive Systems).  Plus, the Transport Minister for Buses, Andrew Jones MP, will give his address on the Bus Services Bill on Thursday 3 November (at 10.15am) in the first session of the day.
