Early ministerial support for autumn coach and bus showcase

With a little more than six months remaining until the doors open to the fourth edition of Euro Bus Expo, this year’s key European exhibition for the bus and coach industry in 2012, show organisers are delighted to have received early commitment from the Under Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker, that he will be attending the first day of the exhibition, 6 November, 2012.

Mr Baker, planning his third consecutive visit to the NEC, says: “The latest round of Green Bus Funding shows what is possible from an industry showcase, with key stakeholders working together to achieve a positive outcome, as shown last October. Attending this year’s show once again gives me the ideal opportunity to come and see, first-hand, further developments on low carbon vehicle technology, improving the environment and paving the way for potential further Green Bus Funding.”

Simon Posner, Chief Executive, Confederation of Passenger Transport, says: “The early decision by the minister to attend Euro Bus Expo 2012 demonstrates the high level of commitment the Department of Transport has for working with our industry. With no sign of advancements in technology slowing down in passenger management, vehicle efficiency and low carbon solutions, many industry leaders see attendance at the show as an essential part of setting business policy. Mr Baker will have the opportunity to interact directly with key suppliers and operators while seeing the technology first-hand.”

Show organisers report that the industry has responded well for 2012. Mark Griffin, Show Director, comments: “We have seen a high level of demand for space within the exhibition, with more than 200 companies already committing to exhibit at the show. Even this far out, we are already receiving news of major product launches planned for the November showcase, alongside companies exhibiting for the first time.”

New exhibitors include Williams Hybrid Power, Altas Commercial Vehicles, and Volant PVS.

Euro Bus Expo 2012 sees the introduction of a dedicated Environmental Zone, featuring the Live Environmental Stage. Supported by BAE Systems, a series of supplier presentations are planned that will focus on the drive towards cleaner, more efficient vehicles.
