Bus Minister to give keynote address at EURO BUS EXPO 2008
May 30th, 2008
Minister of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP, will make a keynote address when she visits the bus and coach industry’s biennial showcase on Thursday 6th November this year.
Rosie Winterton will be the first of a series of high profile speakers on the second day of an International Conference programme which is running in parallel with Euro Bus Expo 2008. The Conference will focus on the latest challenges facing the European bus and coach sector.
After delivering her speech, the Minister will then take a tour of the show to view the newest developments in the European bus and coach industry from the 300 plus Exhibitors in Halls 4 and 5 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. In a break with show tradition, the Minister’s visit will be on the final day of the trade-only event, which opens it doors on Tuesday 4th November.
As well as seeing first hand the up-to-the-minute features on the 150 plus vehicles on display, the Rt Hon Member for Doncaster Central - whose Ministerial brief includes Buses and Taxis, Mobility and Inclusion, Regional Transport Strategy, Local Public Transport and Europe - will also have the opportunity to view the three dedicated zones for Technology, the Environment and Training & Development which are key themes at Euro Bus Expo 2008.
Commenting on the announcement, the Chief Executive of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) Simon Posner said, “I am delighted that the Minister has found time in her busy schedule not only to visit the show, but also to make a keynote address at what will be a stimulating and thought-provoking Conference.”
He added, “ I am sure that her visit to Euro Bus Expo 2008 will not only give the Minister an important insight into the many and varied product and service innovations in our industry, but will also give her the opportunity to discuss the key issues currently being faced by bus and coach operators”.
