The official launch of Euro Bus Expo 2010 was marked on Wednesday 2nd September when CPT members and previous exhibitors gathered in Manchester for the Autumn CPT suppliers meeting. The organisers revealed that next year’s premier international bus and coach exhibition to be held in Hall 5 at the NEC on 2-4 November already has considerable support with all the main vehicle sites now taken. Even before last week’s meeting in Manchester, such influential industry names as Optare, ADL, Plaxton, MAN, Volvo, Scania, The Wright Group, VDL Bus & Coach, Van Hool, Base, EvoBus, Sitcar, Temsa, BMC and MCV had already given their backing for the 2010 show. This means that 60% of exhibition space is now booked with 14 months remaining until the show.
Show Director, Mark Griffin believes this strong support from manufacturers will send out a very positive message to the rest of the industry and allow exhibitors to plan ahead for next year with a renewed sense of confidence.
Speaking with suppliers at the launch he said: “Over the last few months we have consulted widely with manufacturers about the strategy for next year’s Euro Bus Expo and the positive response we have received has enabled us to prepare a floorplan that limits the show to Hall 5 for 2010. We believe it is essential to deliver a show which reflects the needs of the market and for that reason we have a floorplan that utilises Hall 5 and the outside areas of the NEC but not Hall 4. We have received tremendous support from manufacturers so far and our team fully expect this to continue as EBE is developed as a quality international show.“
The organisers have given assurances that the exhibition will still accommodate over 250 exhibitors covering the full spectrum of vehicle product and service suppliers from right across Europe and the UK.
Exhibitors at Euro Bus Expo 2010 will benefit from a pan European marketing campaign aimed at attracting over 10,000 attendees from over 50 countries. While detailed plans have yet to be revealed; the promotional programme will include targeted direct mail shots, advertising and PR in all the leading European trade titles, e-shots to top industry professionals plus the recently launched Euro Bus website.
In addition to an extensive exhibitor showcase, Euro Bus Expo will also feature a free-to-attend seminar programme, Technology Zone with an extensive collection of IT and communications equipment plus the Training & Development Zone dedicated to providing best career advice.
Griffin regards the Government’s announcement to provide a £30million financial support package to encourage operators to buy low carbon buses as much needed. He also believes that hosted visits arranged at the 2008 show by the CPT for the Department of Transport and local authority transport departments as part of the Environment Zone initiative was influential in bringing about this decision. Funded by major operating groups Arriva, First, Go Ahead, National Express and Stagecoach, CPT’s strategy was to raise the profile of all the development work taking place with manufacturers and to promote buses and coaches as an integral part of sustainable travel. Feedback from all quarters of the industry indicates that Environment Zone was a huge success.
Now that the sales campaign for Euro Bus Expo 2010 is up-and-running, those previous exhibitors interested in booking an exhibition stand are advised to contact a member of the show’s sales team on tel: +44 (0)1926 834790 or email: info@eurobusxpo.com.
