Belmont International's
10 decades of the Bus
Modern passenger transport vehicles are a world apart from their early twentieth century counterparts in terms of design, technology, materials and build, even though their basic function of transporting people has not changed.
Visitors to Euro Bus Expo 2008 will not only get a chance to see the very latest technology available on today’s bus and coaches, but also get a unique insight into what might have been “on show” 100 years earlier, thanks to a very special Ten Decades of the Bus display that is sponsored by Belmont Insurance.
An original and fully restored 1908 Leyland X2 is just one of four vintage vehicles which be part of this special display to celebrate Ten Decades of the Bus.
There’s also a 1913 Barnsley & District Electric Traction, Leyland ST “Combination Car” single decker, a 1914 L&NWR Leyland “Torpedo” charabanc and a Brookes Bros (White Rose) of Rhyl,Leyland SG7, 40 seater from 1923. These unique and priceless vehicles have been kindly loaned by Mike and Pat Sutcliffe.
With the Omnibus celebrating ten decades of public service together with a great heritage of bus building in the UK, visitors to EBE08 will get a unique opportunity to see a full age spectrum of vehicles - from vintage to modern-day on view.
